The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) continues its slow trickle of reveals for Black Bolt & White Flare.
With the release date scheduled for July 18th for the English set, TPCi is slowly pulling back the curtain with the Reuniclus evolution line.
Solosis

Solosis
Rollout: 10 damage.
Solois comes in as a standard Basic Pokémon. It has slightly lower than average health and health.
While this isn't very impressive, it does only need colorless energy, so against other Pokémon in its weight class, it has one of the faster activation requirements.
Duosion

Duosion
Cellular Evolution: Search your deck for a card that evolves from 1 of your Pokémon and put it onto that Pokémon to evolve it. Then, shuffle your deck.
Spray Fluid: 30 damage.
Thankfully, this evolution line starts showing its value by Stage 1. For one energy, Cellular Evolution just lets you search out any Pokémon from the deck.
Duosion’s search does come with a couple of caveats. The obvious is that it is an attack, so the moment you activate it, your turn ends there.
Furthermore, its targets are limited to evolved Pokémon that are based on the Pokémon you have on the board.
Continuing from Solosis, Duosion still enjoys the fact that both of its attacks can function off any kind of energy. While Duosion also has an actual offensive attack that 30 damage from Spray Fluid pales to the utilitarian power that Cellular Evolution brings to the table.
Reuniclus

Reuniclus
Cellular Awakening: For each of your Benched Pokémon, search your deck for a card that evolves from that Pokémon and put it onto that Pokémon to evolve it. Then, shuffle your deck.
Evo Lariat: 40+ damage. This attack does 40 more damage for each of your Evolution Pokémon in play.
The final evolution of Solosis once again enjoys its single colorless energy for all of its attacks. This time, its search function is upgraded a bit.
Unlike Duosion’s Cellular Evolution, Reuniclus’ Cellular Awakening allows it to search for a target card for each benched Pokémon. This accelerates the board setup of any deck that relies on evolved Pokémon like Gardevoir ex or Dragapult ex.
Reuniclus may be able to help set up a kill if it stays on the field long enough.
Assuming its search function isn’t necessary anymore, an extra 40 to 120 damage from Evo Lariat might make it easier for the next active Pokémon to follow up on.
All-in-all, the Reuniclus evolution line may find its way as a tech choice for some willing deck builders.
Its highly efficient energy and retreat costs make it easy for any player to start building their board outside of using the normal staple search functions. That said, it does come with a major hiccup. It’s the fact that you need Duosion or Reuniclus to even get the search engine going.
This factor can leave players scrambling to use something like a Rare Candy or a Hyper Aroma to make sure their game plan doesn’t stall out right at the start of the match.
Ultimately, it’s relatively a small price to pay for the general utility this Pokémon line can offer.
