Each day, the Journey Together expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) gets closer and closer. With slightly over two weeks remaining until the expansion's release (March 28th), the Pokémon Company International (TPCi) has recently announced a Pre-Release event in celebration.

The Start of the Journey

Starting on March 15th, local stores from across different parts of the globe will be hosting the pre-release of Journey Together. Interested participants can use a provided event finder supplied by TPCi here.

In case this event finder yields no nearby results, players are also encouraged to visit other local stores. While the event finder can be a useful tool, it requires participation from retailers too, which doesn't always happen. As such, this service can often be missing data, but that doesn't mean events aren't happening in your local area.

For those already in the process of making their itinerary to participate, take note that some organized events need you to have a Trainer ID -acquired from the Play Pokémon website- to participate. While TPCi has not made any official requirements known, it would be a good precaution to have one on hand, just in case. Additionally, you'll likely also be required to pay an entry fee of about $30+ (£25+). So, to make sure you're all organized, it would be wise to contact your chosen retailer to find out if there are prerequisites needed on the day itself.

What's in store?

For participants, the event will net you a special Build & Battle Box that includes a pre-built 40-card deck to use and 4 booster packs to customize it as you see fit. Afterwards, there is a series of 3 1vs1 matches players can participate in.

After all three rounds are played, win or lose, each participant will receive another 3 booster packs of Journey Together.

But that’s not all, TPCi has also announced that each Battle Box will house one of four unique foil promo cards featuring N's Darmanitan, Iono's Kilowattrel, Lillie's Ribombee, and Hop's Snorlax.

There seems to be a lot of interest in Hop’s Snorlax at the moment due to its ability to boost the attack damage output of Hop’s other Pokémon. So if you want to try and get your hands on some early Journey Together cards, now is the time.

For those interested in the original announcement, you can find it at the Pokémon website, here.
