The world of trading card games, digital or otherwise, is no stranger to the concept of reprints. Even though digital cards don't inherently have value, reprints can still be a great way to improve availability. With this in mind, there's good reason for Pokemon Pocket players to be excited about the new pack that has just been announced.
High Class Pack ex Commercial
So far, no official translation or announcement has been made for Western audiences, but a rough translation of this new pack’s title is ‘High Class Pack ex’. According to the advertising, this pack is to be released on September 30th and will be available for an entire month until October 30th. At the moment, there has been no news confirming if this pack will be released for the Western market.

From what could be parsed from the commercial, this set appears to contain cards from past expansion packs. Some notable cards that can be seen in the commercial include Charizard ex and Giratina ex from Shining Revelry and Eevee ex from Eevee Grove.

The ending slide detailing some of the pack’s information confirms that this pack will include up to four cards. One of the cards a player gets from this pack is reported to be a guaranteed Double Rare (4-Diamond) or higher. The commercial does showcase a Special Art Rare (2-Star) version of Professor’s Research and what could potentially be a new rare version of Greninja to help support this claim.
Who is this for?
If this new ‘High Class Pack ex’ set does get an official announcement from TPCi (The Pokemon Company International) for the Western market, it does beg the question of, for whom is this card pack exactly for?
From the looks of things, it’s mostly for either new players or players that TPCi is trying to entice back into the game. Outside of the beautiful artwork to collect, the ex Pokemon have single-handedly warped the competitive aspect of Pokemon Pocket.
Giratina ex is one such example. This ex Pokemon has been featured in so many top-performing decks just because it opens up a win condition that can be played with or separate from a deck’s main strategy.
If this card pack does make it to the West and you’re a new or returning player, this could be a good chance to shore up your collection and potentially get some tournament staples into your arsenal.
For currently active players who already have a built collection, this could be a good opportunity to save up on your hourglasses. This pack, if it ever does become available out in the west, can be safely ignored unless there’s a new illustration rare that catches your fancy, like that new Greninja art.
