The Pokémon Company International (TPCi) has reached out to several retail outlets with card reveals for the upcoming Journey Together expansion set. Slated for release this coming March 28th, Journey Together marks the return of Trainer Pokémon that Destined Rivals and what Hot Wind Arena seek to continue.
As is custom in every new western release, Journey Together will be sourcing its cards from multiple Japanese expansion sets. This time, the pool will include Battle Partners, which kickstarted the returning trend of Trainer Pokémon and the Generations Start Decks. the rest of the inclusion is a batch of preconstructed decks headlined by two featured ex Pokémon. Finally some special trainer support cards from each of the nine generations (of the Pokémon intellectual property) have been sprinkled on top.

Already, we are being treated to Special Illustration Rare reveals coming in the form of Iono's Bellibolt and Hop's Zacian. The former may see some use in decks that host Raging Bolt ex. Attentive players may notice that Raging Bolt’s Bellowing Thunder doesn’t care where the energy being discarded is coming from. Iono’s Bellibolt would be more than happy to supply the energy needed if one can get around the fact they’d need to get the cards into their hand first.

While we ponder the new possibilities Journey Together brings, our keen-eyed friends over at Pokébeach have pointed out that a difference in card numbers may see at least two Pokémon being cut from the set: Koraidon and Zacian. There is speculation that these two may be featured in an upcoming product line, but there is no evidence to support this theory.
