With the pre-release stock of Maze of the Masters getting into the hands of the wider Yu-Gi-Oh community, we’ve seen not only the new Odion archetype but some other support cards included in the set. Because of this, we’re seeing an upward trend in the price of Seventh Ascension.

Seventh Ascension is an ultra rare card released back in June 2022 as part of the Legendary Duelist: Duels From the Deep expansion. This card saw a modest cost of about $13 in second-hand markets like TCGplayer around September 2024.
Come December of the same year, we can see the card start going up in price to a $20 to $30 average. This coincides with the Western release of Crossover Breakers and the Ryzeal archetype.
With the Maze of the Masters nearing its official store launch date, we can see that Seventh Ascension jumps up again. Now, the card is selling for $40 to $50 price average with some individual sales already being done at $55.
The reason for this upward trend can be linked to one of the secret rare cards found in Maze of the Masters, Seventh Tachyon. With the prolific representation of the Ryzeal archetype in the competitive scene, Seventh Tachyon and Seventh Ascension are being looked upon for their high compatibility with one of the leading competitive archetypes.

The Ryzeal archetype found its footing as a prominent XYZ focused deck centered around its rank 4 main deck monsters and their rank 4 XYZ cohorts over at the main deck. Normally, cards like Bonfire are used to drive up consistency due to half of the main deck roster being viable targets.
But with Ryzeal’s popularity, mirror matches are becoming more and more common so intrepid deck builders have looked elsewhere to break any potential stalemates. It looks like Seventh Ascension and Seventh Tachyon together help shift the status quo in these matches.
Depending on what’s being run in the extra deck, Seventh Tachyon can function as a much more versatile Bonfire. It can reveal the needed Numbers XYZ monster in the extra deck and then start picking up the corresponding board piece. Better still, Seventh Tachyon is not limited to just Ryzeal cards.
Seventh Ascension then comes in as a way to search for Seventh Tachyon for either consistency purposes or more likely, a cheaper alternative for when a full playset of Seventh Ascension is not available.
Seventh Tachyon is currently a Secret Rare in the Maze of the Masters Expansion and copies of the card have yet to hit the second-hand market. And while Seventh Ascension is not a common card by any stretch of the imagination it’s still a lot easier to find copies of it lying around.
Right now, it’s not quite certain how the market will react again once Maze of the Masters does officially hit store shelves. With the Yu-Gi-Oh Championship Series (YCS) heading to Las Vegas this coming March 15th to 16th, we won’t have to wait long.
