It’s raining jewels over at the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket. The latest expansion for the digital card game, Shining Revelry, is available now.
Featuring a set of 111 new cards, Shining Revelry introduces not only Pokémon and trainer cards from the franchise’s Paldea region but also the new shiny rarity levels.
Paldea Cometh
Pokémon TCG Pocket hasn't been available for very long in the grand scheme of things. Originally launching back in October of 2024, this game is only a few months old, really. Despite this, the digital card game has been jumping all over the place, tapping into different regions to increase its card pool significantly.

From the humble Kanto region at release to the current card pool from the Sinnoh region, Pokémon TCG Pocket has come a long now. Now, The Pokémon Company is adding the Paldea region as a source for its roster.
Cards like Meowscarada and Iono are just some of the game’s newest members to its growing card pool. Currently, it remains to be seen if any of these new Paldean cards will affect the competitive aspect of the game in any meaningful way.
Due to the differences in gameplay and deck building between Pocket and its physical counterpart, the standards from the latter don’t really apply to the former.

That said, there may be some fun to be had for the more adventurous players with the new Paldean Clodsire ex and Grafaiai. You’ll be banking your winning strategy on a coin flip, but a potential 120 damage for just two energy is pretty neat, all things considered.
This strategy does come with the caveat of getting two Stage 2 Pokémon going, but it may lead to some humorous moments for those looking for a more casual experience.
New Shiny Rarity

Probably this expansion’s marquee feature, Shining Revelry introduces the new Shiny Rarity level. Coming in two variants, they are distinguished by the number of multicolored starburst symbols located at the lower left of the card (up to two) while having a crystal/star-like background.
Of the 111 cards listed in this set, 14 of them have been given the privilege of being given a shiny rarity level. Out of those 14, only 4 have made it to the illustrious level of “Double Shiny Rare”.
This is probably in an effort to emulate the Pokémon video games and overall low percentages of players running into shiny Pokémon.
While these new shiny cards don’t provide any mechanical advantage whatsoever, they do add a certain level of prestige to a player’s collection.
