The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game (TCG) is about to enter a new format with the worldwide release of the Doom of Dimensions expansion on September 26th. The recent shake-up of the TCG Forbidden/Limited list has re-ignited player creativity, as some White Forest support cards have recently begun trending upwards in the market.

Most competitive decks only need a single copy of this card as an extender.

Level 2, Light

Illusion/Effect

You can reveal this card in your hand; Special Summon 1 "White Forest" or "Azamina" monster from your hand. During your Main Phase: You can Fusion Summon 1 "Azamina" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters from your hand or field. If this card is sent to the GY as Synchro Material: You can add 1 "Sinful Spoils" card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest" once per turn.

Copies of Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest ended August being worth under $4. The market price of this card began rolling into September at a slow but steady upward trend. The analytics showed that there have only been two major recessions of this card so far. Prices had slid back down by about $1-2 each time, but the market quickly rebalanced as merchant prices reversed over time.

The current market average of Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest is around $10, but there are a couple of copies trading hands at about $12. We can see prices rise a little further for this card to around a $15 price range, just because there’s been only one printing of Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest so far.

Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest enters a White Forest deck list as a solid extender into either the Azamina fusion monsters sleeping in the extra deck or as a play line into any of the Sinfoil Spoil cards. Normally played at a single copy, interested players will probably find no better time to grab a copy of Elzette, Azamina of the White Forest, since this card only exists as a Secret Rare (SR) or as a Quarter Century Secret Rare (QCSR) at the moment.

This is a good time to get a full set of this field spell.

Field Spell

When this card is activated: You can add 1 "White Forest" monster from your Deck to your hand, but you cannot Special Summon DARK monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn. The first time each "White Forest" monster you control would be destroyed by battle each turn, it is not destroyed. You can target 1 "White Forest" monster you control; it is treated as a Tuner this turn. You can only use this effect of "Witch of the White Forest" once per turn. You can only activate 1 "Witch of the White Forest" per turn.

The market trend for Witch of the White Forest mirrored its in-archetype sibling. Starting the month of September at just under $2, copies of this card made a slow but steady climb to a $5 market average. The market price did suffer a few setbacks a few times during the climb, but the analytics quickly course-corrected itself as the month progressed.

What was a little eyebrow-raising was that over a thousand copies of Witch of the White Forest had been sold over at TCGplayer in the past month. Even if you were to take into account that most competitive White Forest decklists usually ran 3 copies, that’s more than 300 players interested in adding Witch of the White Forest to their collection if taken at face value.

For players interested in picking up the White Forest archetype for the first time, now would be an extremely good time pick up a full set of this field spell. Witch of the White Forest is not only a solid in-archetype search function, it’s also a way for the deck to easily shift gears from accessing the White Forest fusion monsters to their synchro counterparts.

Rciela, Sinister Soul of the White Forest is a good example of an extra deck monster that White Forest players could go into. Rciela not only extends to any White Forest card or a Light Spellcaster monster, but it can also protect all your Illusion and Spellcaster synchro monsters from destruction effects while giving them an attack steroid.
