The dream of finding an unexpected and untapped pile of wealth in old trading cards is alive and well. The hobby that you had as a kid could unexpectedly pay for a house if you have the right cards in the right condition. Many won’t be so lucky to find a two-million-dollar Black Lotus in their binders, but the absolute motherload of trading cards aren’t the only things worth money.

Even some newer trading cards can be worth a surprising amount of cash, and gameplay doesn’t always have anything to do with it. Even though Dragon Master Magia is a newer card, there is still a ton of nostalgia behind it, translating to dollar signs.

Dragon Master Magia is a Yu-Gi-Oh! Card released in Battles of Legend: Terminal Revenge that is currently worth about $769. The card has increased by almost $230 in price since the beginning of August. For reference, Terminal Revenge was released on June 20 of this year.

There are two aspects that support the absurd price of Dragon Master Magia. The first is definitely a nostalgia factor related to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime series. While Dragon Master Magia is a new card to the TCG world of Yu-Gi-Oh, the cards that create this Fusion Monster are some of the most iconic cards in the game’s existence. Utilizing Kaiba’s Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, and Black Luster or Chaos cards from Yugi Muto, the two most iconic characters in the game’s franchise are being honored with this card.

Outside of granting even more support for Yu-Gi-Oh!’s most iconic archetypes, Dragon Master Magia is also absurdly rare. This card is only printed in the Quarter Century Secret Rare treatment, which is just about the rarest modern treatment a Yu-Gi-Oh! card can have. You’re not even guaranteed to open one of these in an entire Booster Box. Not only do you have to get lucky to even open a Quarter Century Secret Rare, but you also need to specifically open Dragon Master Magia, which can only be found in this treatment. Talk about difficult!

As a result, despite this card seeing little to no competitive play, Dragon Master Magia is extremely expensive. This is definitely the most exciting thing that you can open in a Booster Pack of Battles of Legend: Terminal Revenge, but good luck trying to actually find one in a Booster pack.
