Disney Lorcana’s Fabled expansion has finally been released worldwide. With active players and collectors opening packs and troves left, right, and center, it’s important to keep an eye out for some of the most expensive cards found in this particular set.
5. Hades - Infernal Schemer (Enchanted)
Average Market Price: $250
The first card on this list, Hades - Infernal Schemer more than earns a spot in any deck using Amethyst despite his relatively high ink cost and uninkable nature. With Disney Lorcana officially implementing a yearly set rotation with Fabled’s release, a lot of the game’s direct and non-damaging board removal are no longer legal in the game’s Core Constructed format.
Hades - Infernal Schemer is one of the few cards in the current format that realistically functions as direct board removal with a non-discriminating targeting function.
Not only that, but Hades - Infernal Schemer himself comes with pretty robust stats. Infernal Schemer won’t be taking out targets in a challenge, but he has a high enough Willpower to stick around a little as he quests for a modest but still dangerous 2 Lore.
For players interested in getting copies to use actively, the Legendary variant of Infernal Schemer is currently playing around a $22 market average, with the occasional cold foil copy going for $30 to $40.
4. Lilo - Best Explorer Ever (Enchanted)
Average Market Price: $250
Lilo - Best Explorer Ever is one of the early-to-mid game drops that occupies an odd space in Steel decks. While not necessarily dangerous on her own, Lilo - Best Explorer Ever can easily boost any ally on the board. Depending on the partner chosen, the controlling player could have a modest early game unit easily taking out opposing characters of a higher weight class in the mid-game.
Unfortunately, Lilo - Best Explorer Ever appears to be more of a tech choice. Outside of her boosting abilities, this version of the character barely offers anything on her own. Her lackluster stats make her an easy target that would need to be protected.
While the Enchanted version of Lilo - Best Explorer Ever is currently being priced at a $250 average in the second-hand market, Super Rare variants are at a more modest $11; some cold foil copies are pushing into the mid-teens worth of cost.
3. Belle - Accomplished Mystic (Enchanted)
Average Market Price: $300
Belle - Accomplished Mystic pulls a lot of duties for Amethyst. She has a solid, if average, stat pool that allows her to trade in challenge without easily being banished and can threaten the lore race even if she only quests once.
The real value for decks using Belle - Accomplished Mystic is that she functions as the in-house medic and a pseudo-board removal. Being able to fling three damage counters to an opposing character does wonders to promote board presence, and depending on the partner ink color, Accomplished Mystic could be cheated out earlier than normal due to her Shift capabilities. If played on curve using her Shift cost, Belle - Accomplished Mystic goes from mid-game utility option to early game threat.
Accomplished Mystic’s Enchanted variant is demanding a rather princely $300 average on the second-hand market, but for players looking to actively use her in their Amethyst decks, the Super Rare variant can easily be found for about $1 to $2 on places like TCGplayer.
2. Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe (Enchanted)
Average Market Price: $370
Dumbo - Ninth Wonder of the Universe is single-handedly shaping the current competitive scene for the Fabled format. Despite Ninth Wonder of the Universe's lower-than-average stats for its ink cost, Dumbo’s ‘Making History’ ability allows any ‘Evasive’ focused deck the capability of performing a two-pronged assault through card draw (and subsequently attrition) and the Lore race.
Amethyst players are already willingly delaying the deployment of this card as a turn 5 drop so they can set up Genie - Wish Fulfilled as a potential lightning rod for dangerous board removal and the start of the ‘Making History’ engine.
Players looking for the Legendary variant, you’d still be forced to pay a pretty hefty sum for a full set. The Legendary version for Ninth Wonder of the Universe is already commanding a $75 market average while occasionally hitting the $100 mark.
If you’re one of the lucky few who has managed to randomly pull out an Enchanted copy of Dumbo from a booster pack, sleeve it right away, and you can most likely recoup a lot of the original cost of your purchase.
1. Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince & Minnie Mouse - Sweetheart Princess (Iconic)
Average Market Price: $1000
We’re putting both Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince and Minnie Mouse - Sweetheart Princess together as they’re Disney Lorcana’s first-ever Iconic rarity variants, and they command an equal market price.
With the lowest chances of randomly stumbling into these particular cards, collectors willing enough to buy these items will easily fork over a thousand dollars to add them to their trove.
Thankfully, the lower rarity variants of Brave Little Prince and Sweetheart Princess aren't as wallet-gouging. The former (Legendary) is asking for a more modest $10 while the latter (Super Rare) can be bought for a steal at about $1.50 on average.
As far as their gameplay capabilities are concerned, Mickey Mouse - Brave Little Prince is more dependent on his ‘Crowning Achievement’ ability. The limitation of potential Shift targets cuts off certain ink combinations, but activating Brave Little Prince does have its upside. Unless direct board removal is available for the opponent, a 5 in Strength and Willpower alongside a 4 in Lore could easily close out a game in just a few turns.
For Minnie Mouse she’s one of Amber’s current utility tools. She offers a robust body for her ink cost, a respectable 2 in Lore, and can boost an ally’s strength with her Support keyword.
Where Sweetheart Princess shines is her interactivity with the Amber item, Scrump. With Scrump and another character lowering any exerted target’s Strength, this little princess can turn into a frightful assassination tool in the hands of a skilled player.
