Love is in the air as we approach February 14, widely referred to and celebrated as Valentine’s Day. In honor of the long-standing holiday, Disney Lorcana has announced a special event for participating stores in the US and Canada.
Starting February 9th to the 15th, couples - or even just friends looking into the hobby - can drop by any participating outlet to enjoy Disney Lorcana’s Pack Rush format. Pack Rush is an officially recognized format catered for people looking to enjoy a quick and casual game of Disney Lorcana. If you and your friends are not familiar with the game at all, Pack Rush also serves as a good introduction to the wider world of Disney Lorcana.
The rules of Pack Rush are more simplified. Instead of reaching twenty Lore (the game’s version of victory points), players of Pack Rush only need to reach fifteen Lore, and unlike a normal game of Disney Lorcana, the threat of automatically losing because a player is unable to draw more cards is disregarded.
So how does one play Pack Rush? Unlike the standard constructed format we see in organized tournaments, Pack Rush makes use of a sealed format. Players take two random and unopened booster packs of Disney Lorcana, set aside the marketing card included in the packs to serve as in-game resources, and without looking, shuffle the cards to make their deck. Once the first player has been determined, players draw a starting hand of five cards and it’s off to the races.
Quick, simple, but still enjoyable, Pack Rush serves as a window into a shared hobby by many enthusiasts. The best part of all, this event will allow all participants to take home the cards they’ve found in their booster packs.
So whether you’re looking into a new game to enjoy or just want to spend time with those you love, reach out to your local game store outlet and see if they’re participating in this Valentine’s Day special, courtesy of Disney Lorcana.
