Until last week, all was quiet over in the land of Disney Lorcana. Around the tail end of April, someone on social media decided to leak privileged information on the future of Disney Lorcana.
As a general disclaimer, the information we will be discussing in this article was not given out in an official capacity. As a result of this, the information is not officially confirmed or set in stone. Details may change or disappear entirely before making it to the game.
Like any rumor, we must treat leaked information with a grain of salt.
Some Context
Unfortunately, information about the source of the leak is rather scarce at the moment. It appears this leak stems from a Discord server, where a video detailing Lorcana's future was posted. While the video itself seems to have been taken down, some pictures still remain floating about the internet.
From what we could see, the information leaked touched upon the following:
- New cards for upcoming sets.
- New card arts for existing cards.
- New card rarity levels.
- The 10th set/expansion for Disney Lorcana.
- A set rotation scheme to be implemented.
- A potential new gameplay format.
- The dates for the upcoming Disney Lorcana World Championship.
New Cards
It was only a matter of time before new cards were revealed, and this leak didn't disappoint. The release date for the Reign of Jafar expansion is getting closer and closer, so it's no surprise that the leak showed us a glimpse of some of the cards to be included in the set.
Jafar - High Sultan of Lorcana
Back in Archazia’s Island, we were introduced to the new Illusion character type. From what we've seen so far, it looks like the Reign of Jafar is intended to carry on the torch started in the seventh expansion.

Jafar - High Sultan of Loracana is a 5 ink cost villain who comes in with pretty average stats for his ink cost. He does come with a whopping 3 lore gain, which is pretty huge.
At the time of writing, there are not a lot of character cards in the 5 ink cost range that can gain that much lore in one go. That said, it looks like the greatest strength of Jafar - High Sultan of Lorcana is his versatility.
For one, he’s a lore and board threat. As the opposing player, this character has got to go immediately. While Jafar’s stats are average, that 3 lore can compound pretty fast.To twist the knife further, each time this character quests for lore, he lets his controller cycle through their deck.
Normally, drawing and then discarding a card isn’t so bad, but it appears Jafar will allow the said discarded card to be played for free if it’s an Illusion character.
At the moment, this kind of ability isn’t that bad due to slim pickings for targets. All it takes is for Ravensburger to print one bonkers Illusion character in the future, however, and Jafar will start running out of control.
If Jafar - High Sultan of Lorcana does have an official debut, Ravensburger has to be very careful with what’s printed next. Otherwise, we may see another update to the Forbidden list.
Other New Cards
Aside from Jafar, we’re given glimpses of other new additions to the roster.

We can see more Illusion-type characters, such as Magic Carpet and Palace Guard. These are both inkable characters that sport the Illusion character’s trademark robust stat line and Vanish ability.
We can also see Ravensburger producing more dual ink cards as well, with the likes of a new Aladdin, Patch, and Lady.

Unfortunately, we’re unable to properly determine Lady’s capabilities. For Aladdin and Patch, however, we can somewhat make out what they can do.
From what we can see, Aladdin appears to have the Bodyguard ability. This is pretty appropriate given his huge 9 willpower. On top of this, Aladdin appears to support the use of Ally-type characters as every time an Ally character quests, the controlling player can heal an amount of damage from Aladdin.
Patch, meanwhile, comes in as a 1 ink cost Amber-Sapphire dual ink puppy with Ward. While a little lackluster in stats, as is expected of the Puppy archetype, Patch does gain more lore as long as another Puppy is in play.
New Alternative Card Art

While not the most exciting piece of information from a mechanical standpoint, Ravensburger is always producing beautiful illustrations. It looks like older cards, such as Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard, will be getting a new full and alternative art.
New Rarity Levels
As if new cards weren't enough to be excited about, the train of information keeps going as the leak also covers new rarity levels.
Currently, Disney Lorcana has seven main rarity levels for its cards: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary, Enchanted, and Promotional. Promotional rarity cards are usually not considered in normal listings as they’re not readily available to the average fan/player.

Now, it looks like Ravensburger seeks to add two more rarity levels to the list with Epic and Iconic rarity.
For Epic, it looks like a stopgap between Legendary and Enchanted. It has some of the traits of an Enchanted card, but not quite the full alternate art Enchanted level cards tend to have.
As for Iconic, it looks like Ravensburger is looking for something beyond Enchanted, but just a step below their Promotional cards. Not only are Iconic cards even harder to find than Enchanted, but they also feature full alternate art and a custom foil pattern.
Collectors will more than likely salivate over these new illustrations. For the average player just looking to recoup losses from buying products in bulk, they shouldn't struggle to find buyers on the secondary market.
Set 10: Whispers in the Well

Part of the leak potentially showed Ravensburger’s hand. After set 9, Fabled, Disney Lorcana appears to be getting its 10th set, Whispers in the Well. Coming in the 4th Quarter of 2025, there’s not much else to go on outside of the picture that was showcased in the leak.
Disney Lorcana World Championship
We’re speeding by some of the smaller bits of information here, as we’re given a glimpse of the potential date and venue for 2025’s World Championship for Disney Lorcana.

Slated for June 28th and 29th, 2025, the Disney Lorcana World Championship is to be held at Walt Disney World Resort.
As far as venues go, this definitely feels appropriate, as Walt Disney World is essentially the home of the Disney franchise and all the characters under its umbrella.
Walt Disney World may not be the first theme park built under the Disney name, but it is certainly one of, if not the, biggest Disney entertainment resort to date.
Updates to Disney Lorcana Itself
We’re saving the juiciest piece of information for last, as it looks like Ravensburger will be updating Disney Lorcana more than just additions to the cards themselves.
We’re talking about full set rotations and a potential new gameplay format.
Set Rotation
A discussion about the future of Disney Lorcana is a topic that concerns new and older players alike. Given how relatively young Disney Lorcana is compared to its rivals, players were left wondering what direction Ravensburger would take.

Now, it seems we have an answer. Assuming this information stays true, Ravensburger will be introducing a set rotation sometime after or during the introduction of the 9th expansion, Fabled.
As far as we can infer, Ravensburger will be disallowing the use of the first four sets in the classic Core Constructed format.
Depending on who you ask, there are a few pros and cons to this. On the one hand, a set rotation does help newer players to the game. Since many powerful staples come from older sets, getting hold of these cards can prove difficult. By rotating these cards out, however, players should have an easier time entering the Lorcana meta.
On the other hand, collectors may be somewhat troubled as their prized older cards may just plummet in value.

From the leak, it looks like Ravensburger is trying to curb any potential future pushback by reprinting older cards. Any card that's repritned in a new set allows its older versions to be playable in organized tournaments.
At the very least, this tactic doesn’t heavily punish those who already have copies of older staples. That said, this could mean future sets will have fewer new cards added to the game.
It's a push-and-pull type deal. Ravensburger is looking out for the longevity of Disney Lorcana. We may not know for sure if this is the best step to take for the game, but it’s comforting to know that Ravensburger is at least thinking about the future.
Possible New Gameplay Format
Last, but by no means least, it appears that Ravensburger is still covering its bases. With a set rotation possibly in the works, Disney Lorcana may be getting some form of legacy format.

*Since this information is not officially announced, we've blurred out the name and picture of the person shown for the sake of privacy.
We don’t know much about this new format outside of its current given title, Infinity Constructed. Even with the current veil of mystery, it may give players another layer of comfort to know that their older cards still have some value/use.
We don’t think players will mind that their older cards can’t be used in the classic constructed format. That is, if Ravensburger properly supports this new Infinity Constructed format for the local game store to run.
For now, that’s it for the leak. Again, we remind players to take all this information with a grain of salt. Undoubtedly, Ravensburger will give an official announcement soon.
Once Ravensburger makes an official announcement, we’ll have more certainty about what the future for Disney Lorcana will actually hold.
