Seems like Ravensburger is looking to support the upcoming legacy format, Infinity Constructed. This is great news, considering it's being featured in the second season of Disney Lorcana Challenges (DLCs).
The First Chapter
Throughout the first two years of life for Disney Lorcana, The First Chapter has been a coveted set for players. A lot of staple cards found in competitive decks to date usually run a card or two from this particular set.
Unfortunately, players who joined a little later after Disney Lorcana’s debut would have a hard time getting copies of The First Chapter.
Ravensburger is rather notorious for not reprinting sets once a new one has been released.
The Lottery
Now that future DLCs will feature Infinity Constructed as a main event, Ravensburger is offering players a chance to purchase a single Booster Box of The First Chapter at a Standard Retail Price of $143.99 (shipping not included).
Unfortunately, this privilege will not be available for all. In the spirit of fairness and possibly limited printing availability, Ravensburger is using a lottery system to determine who will be able to purchase these booster boxes.
Community members interested in taking part in this lottery can go to Ravensburger’s official announcement page to closely follow their instructions.
Interested parties, please be aware that Ravensburger’s chosen shipping partner will only be able to ship to the following regions: all 50 US states, the UK, Switzerland, and EU territories.
It’s been noted on the announcement page that shipping to territories other than the ones listed above will not be entertained.
This lottery will close on July 7th at 9 pm PST & CET. So, anyone who wants to have a chance to win this lottery and purchase The First Chapter will have to hurry. If you happen to be one of the lucky winners, you’ll be notified via email on July 10th.
Ravensburger has also mentioned that this would be the last chance for interested parties to purchase this product from them.
Given Ravensburger’s reputation, this warning is not to be taken lightly.
The First Chapter’s Value
At the moment, an unsealed booster box for The First Chapter is fetching a sum of $300 in second-hand markets like TCGplayer. That’s already with the threat of a set rotation on the horizon.
Chase cards from The First Chapter, like Rapunzel - Gifted with Healing, have a current average asking price of about $30 per copy. A full set of this particular card almost matches the price offered by Ravensburger for the booster box.
Now that we know Infinity Constructed is being well supported, staples like these may well retain a good deal of their price. That said, Ravensburger can reprint cards from Lorcana's past, which could cause prices to crash. Nevertheless, since the longevity of Lorcana cards has been cemented, there should be a lot of value here.
